Galway Freeze 2010

You may remember Hadji Beys Turkish Delight from the 60s and 70s.  It had been part of Ireland's food tradition since 1902 when a young Armenian named Harutun Batmazian set up his stall at the Great Cork International Exhibition making Turkish Delight. He quickly established a shop and factory on McCurtain St. which became a famous Cork landmark. I was in Dublin with the clan recently and we called into Murphy's Ice Cream in Temple Bar.  They have just recently opened here, and also have a new shop on Wicklow St.  We love the Murphys cow, and my kids (while enjoying their Murphys) loved the stripy deck chairs. Kieran Murphy tells us(check out his great bolg www.icecreamireland.com) that he has some new flavours on the way, including real lavender and caramelised honey. Read more »

  I visited the Speciality and Fine Food Fair in the Olympia in London this week.  Somebody has to do the hard jobs!
