The new McCambridge's website is finally open for the public! Do let me know what you think. If you have any trouble accessing anything, or spot any mistakes I would really appreciate the feedback.
I hope to do a bit of blogging on the shop, our products, our great suppliers, Galway(particularly things happening on our lovely street), receipes and good food in general.

Last Saturday 14/8/10 the BIG FREEZE happened on Shop Street outside McCambridge's.
Someone organised a bunch of people to just freeze for almost 5 minutes along Shop Street on Saturday afternoon. It was quite cool, some people did it really well. I missed it but Younger Sister caught it all. See below for utube link.

You may remember Hadji Beys Turkish Delight from the 60s and 70s.
It had been part of Ireland's food tradition since 1902 when a young Armenian named Harutun Batmazian set up his stall at the Great Cork International Exhibition making Turkish Delight.
He quickly established a shop and factory on McCurtain St. which became a famous Cork landmark. Despite its small size, the reputation of Hadji Bey soon expanded beyond Cork and Ireland to some of the great department stores of the world. H...

I was in Dublin with the clan recently and we called into Murphy's Ice Cream in Temple Bar. They have just recently opened here, and also have a new shop on Wicklow St. We love the Murphys cow, and my kids (while enjoying their Murphys) loved the stripy deck chairs.
Kieran Murphy tells us(check out his great bolg www.icecreamireland.com) that he has some new flavours on the way, including real lavender and caramelised honey.

I visited the Speciality and Fine Food Fair in the Olympia in London this week. Somebody has to do the hard jobs! It was very impressive, showcasing the best in speciality food in the UK. There was also a good Irish contingent there. My daughter Emma (currently residing in London) came as my sidekick taster and we met two other mother and daughter teams from Ireland.

The fair is all over for another year. We had fantastic turnout for this year, better than ever, and lots and lots of delicious food was tasted and wine was sipped. Thanks to all who came, and supported our local schools and Gra charity.

A lovely night had last night at the Irish Fashion Innovation Awards 2011 in the Radisson. We were treated to an array of the best of Irish Fashion designers for clothes, jewellrey and accessories. And we got to sip plenty of our own Paso de Sol wines at the pre show reception while looking at some great outfits.
